Town of Porter Historical Museum

 

Rich in history and a wealth of archeology, the Town of Porter Historical Society main purpose is to discover and collect artifacts and materials to help establish and illustrate the history of the area - its geological derivation, exploration, settlement, activities in peace and war, progress in population, wealth, education, religion, arts ,science. agriculture, manufacturing, trade and transportation.

The society has an extensive collection of records, newspaper articles and materials to support historical research and genealogical research.  A monthly historical lecture program is offered the third Monday of each month at 7:00pm (except in July and August).  A monthly newsletter is sent to members filled with interesting articles and information gathered from old records related to the Town of Porter's past.

The Society owns and maintains the Town of Porter Historical Museum with support from the Town of Porter and the Village of Youngstown.  The museum is wheelchair accessible.  Admission is free.

Membership is open to anyone.  Membership benefits include a free monthly newsletter filled with interesting and timely articles about the history of the Town of Porter. For a membership application call 716-745-1271.
